Shajar is a nursery and visitor attraction that contains more than 130,000 trees that are being carefully nurtured prior to being planted in Arada’s communities. Spread over a 1.6 million square foot area, Shajar, which means ‘trees’ in Arabic, is one of the largest nurseries in the UAE.

Designed as a family-friendly and educational attraction to promote the welfare of trees and boost environmental awareness, Shajar incorporates a welcome centre and tour experience, all surrounded by a huge variety of trees and shrubs.

The Shajar experience also includes a beautifully designed and atmospheric café surrounded by a leafy canopy of trees.

The Process

Production

This is where trees are propagated. Plants will stay here for about 6 months until strong enough for the seedling area.
Seedling

This shaded area is the second stage in the tree’s growing journey. These plants will stay in this area for 6 months until they’re shifted to the Sapling area.
Sapling

In this area, bigger pots and spaces is provided for every tree to encourage strong growth. Trees in this area will stay for 1 year.
Planting

Trees are transplanted into bigger containers or bags in different growing zones under the full sun before being moved to communities, bringing to life a carefully designed landscaping plan.

What We Do

We nurture trees from seeds or cutting in the propagation stage all the way through seedling sapling and different growing stages on its journey to become a very large mature tree that will be planted in one of Arada projects.
